This low-prep and copy-free reading activity encourages students to visualize the text being read, put that vision on paper, and write a descriptive caption, much like they would a short summary. And you won’t have to collect and grade papers thanks to the included simple roster grading method.
Here’s How it Works:
» Select 3-4 sections of reading from the textbook.
» Your students will read aloud sections of the text.
» At the end of each section is a brief class discussion to gather thoughts and ideas for drawing and caption.
» Students are given about five minutes to draw a picture and write a descriptive caption about what they just read.
» After time is up, students quickly partner up (includes a fun way to do this with music!) to share their work with a classmate.
» Repeat process until all sections are complete!
