In this package, students will read the story of Shakespeare's "King Lear" in a simple narrative form. The text has been annotated to provide definitions of unfamiliar vocabulary words and includes intermittent comprehension questions for group discussion or independent work. After reading, students will respond to multiple-choice textual analysis questions that require deep thinking and close reading of the text. After responding to textual analysis questions, students will move through a series of tasks: visualizing the text, writing about the text, Shakespeare's words, and exploration. Through the tasks, students will draw, write, read closely, and explore new ideas. Each task includes a scoring guide so that students understand how their work will be assessed and can self-monitor as they work on tasks.
