In this package, student will read five of Aesop’s fables, including The Lion and the Mouse, The Mice in Council, The Wolf and the Crane, The Ants and the Grasshoppers, and The Fox and the Lion. Before reading each short text, students will analyze an illustration of the narrative and make predictions about their reading. After reading, students will respond to multiple-choice textual analysis questions that require deep thinking and close reading of each text. After responding to textual analysis questions, students will move through a series of tasks for each text: visualizing the text, writing about the text, and exploration. Through the tasks, students will draw, write, read closely, and explore new ideas. Each task includes a scoring guide so that students understand how their work will be assessed and can self-monitor as they work on tasks. There are also five comprehensive answer keys included for teacher use, one at the end of each section.
This forty-six page resource is an excellent choice to supplement your existing curriculum, build readiness for testing, include in a substitute folder, or use as a series of stand-alone lessons.
