Cumulative Unit on “Jabberwocky” by Lewis Carroll (4 days)
This unit will entail teaching students how to do textual analysis through poetry. It includes looking at diction and the theme behind the words. Students need to learn this skill so that they may be effective communicators and better writers. In this unit, students will write summaries, answer questions about content, and provide relative examples of theme to their life. This unit will take eight days and involve many class discussions, work with words, themes found in context, communication and support of themes found out of context, and the idea of themes being seen in every day life.
