Need a new, hands-on approach to your retell standards? Story towers are a super fun, super effective way to get your students thinking about a text!
As they read a story, or you read one to them, put them in groups to build their story. They must write about the different features (character, setting, plot, etc.), and work together to build their towers. A little bit of.a STEM element comes into play here as students strategize ways to keep their tower standing.
Once groups have their "stories" built, have them retell the story to the class! This activity highlights so many standards at once!
