Is spreading kindness one of your goals this year? If so, don't forget to teach students about the art of the thank you email. This thank you email assignment is perfect for a one-day lesson at any point throughout the school year, but it's especially beneficial during teacher appreciation week.
Rather than asking students to write an email to a teacher in the building, ask them to consider anyone in their life who they would consider a teacher: coaches, friends, family, pastors, and, of course, educators. Then, use the one-day lesson included to guide your students toward creating their own sincere, specific thank you email.
Kindness is important, but students don't always reflect upon how they can use words of encouragement to spread it. Let's help them with this short writing assignment that's meaningful and applicable to the real world.
If your students need more work with email etiquette, you won't want to miss this related Email Etiquette Mini Unit.
