Classroom management is supported with many ideas, methods and strategies. Using redirection prompts and thank you cards is a strategy that has worked for me in the middle school setting and now I am using it in high school.
When students follow directions I thank them aloud using their name and then give them a thank you card. This can be used at anytime but it was especially useful in getting students to settle down quickly upon entering the room or after a transition.
Thank you cards can then be returned to the teacher in exchange for
A raffle ticket for a reward that the teacher may be giving
A positive note or call home
What ever the teacher chooses
The redirection prompt cards are to eliminate an argument or power struggle when students need direction to correct their behavior.
