This activity set includes 2 pocket chart activities and 2 independent worksheets. They would be great to use with the whole class, small groups, or in a literacy station. Check out the activity descriptions:
Activity #1: Place the turkeys in the pocket chart. Pass out the individual word cards to
students. Have the class identify each picture. The students with the correct parts
of the compound word get to place the words next to the picture in the pocket chart.
Activity #2: Each students gets a practice sheet and a strip of picture cards. Have them
cut out the picture cards and glue them in the box next to the correct picture. Then have
them write the two parts of the compound word on the lines next to the picture.
Activity #3: Place the headers at the top of a pocket chart (“Compound” and “Not
Compound”). Have the children identify the pictures on the cards and sort them into the
Activity #4: Each student gets a sorting sheet and a half sheet with picture cards. They
cut out the picture cards and sort them into groups of “compound” and “not compound”.
