November is a month known for thankful hearts in America. It's a time for Americans to set aside at least one day to be thankful for what we have. To join in the merriment, I have created a journal for my students. Each day, they will write down one thing they are thankful for throughout the month of November. The beginning of this inspiration came when I read Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts. Examples of what students can write:
- my parents.
- my skateboard.
- free breakfast every morning.
- goodnight kisses.
My goal here is to teach the students how to be thankful for the little things in life, as well as the big things, to take time to notice the extraordinary in the ordinary.
