If you are looking for a Thanksgiving or November Pocket Chart Activity for your class, you must check this out. My October "In Your Pocket" was an instant hit and I knew I had to make one for each month of the year. So here is the next installment.
This pocket chart activity uses brightly colored turkeys and the corresponding color words and sentences to get your students reading in your classroom and excited for Thanksgiving. You can use this whole group and it is just as helpful to have your students use it as a center. Pocket charts materials are just perfect for students developing one on one correspondence. They are also the perfect way for students to learn reading left to right. Also, sight words are repeated again and again with this activity so students can read independently.
Included your students can simply match a colored turkey to the correct color word. They can also match it up to a sentence such as "This turkey is blue." Colors included in this set are red, blue, yellow, green, black, white, pink, purple, orange, brown, and gray. As a bonus, I have included a game board and matching spinner with color words on it. Students spin the spinner and simply move their pawn to the first turkey with the same color. It is a perfect companion to the pocket chart.
