CONTENTS
ONE: Analyzing An Advertisement - This activity requires students to analyze a print advertisement for turkeys. The advert contains multiple examples of figurative language, and students are required to identify, name and explain at least 8 of these.
TWO: Analyzing A Poem - For this activity, a copy of the poem ‘Thanksgiving’ by Kate Seymour Maclean has been included and students are required to annotate the poem, identifying all figurative language techniques contained. A worksheet has also been included for students to further explain the effect of these techniques.
THREE: A Writing Exercise - Students have to imagine that it is the end of their Thanksgiving celebration and they are writing a diary entry to describe the day. They must use figurative language to add to the vivid imagery. A planning page and writing template have been included.
