Gobble! Gobble! Gobble!
Turkey Trouble is a fun writing and poetry file!
Your kids will have fun creating the Turkey writing activities about what the turkey will say to the cook and disguising the turkey so he won't be eaten for Thanksgiving dinner.
We read the book "Run, Turkey Run" by Diane Mayr to go with the writing activity: What did the turkey say to the Cook? The kids love making the "thumbprint" turkeys and using the speech bubble to talk to the cook. The writings look awesome displayed with the poster: What did the turkey say to the cook? or you can make the class book page, too!
The writing favorite is the turkey disguise. We send the EDITABLE note attached to the cut out turkey home for the kids and parents to create a disguise for the turkey. When they bring it back to school, we read the story, "Turkey Trouble" by Wendi Silvano. The kids then write about who their turkey is disguised as. It looks amazing displayed with the banner: Where are They?
Your students will love the "I'm not a Turkey" poem and they can use it in a pocket chart putting it in order. The poem is in a power point so you can read/sing it together, as well as print it out, laminate and bind together as a poetry reader. This is great to do along with the turkey project you send home!
