These Thanksgiving Adapted Books, include 2 fun and unique adapted books for the Thanksgiving season.
The first adapted book, "That's Not The Pie," focuses on adjectives, wh-questions, sequencing skills, and basic matching.
In this adapted book, Tommy (the turkey) wants to make the "perfect pie" for Thanksgiving but most of the pies that he makes are a little to "this" or a little to "that."
"It was almost Thanksgiving and Tommy wanted to make the perfect pie for Thanksgiving dessert.
First he made a lemon pie. "That's not the pie" said Tommy. That pie is too tangy!
Next he made an apple pie. "That's not the pie" said Tommy. That pie is too crunchy!
Then he made a cherry pie. "That's not the pie," said Tommy. That pie is too lumpy!
With this adapted book, a teacher or therapist reads the book to students, as they follow along and match a heart and descriptive words to each page. At the end of the story, there are wh- questions that students will answer by matching the correct answer piece to each page. Students working independently can work through the book in a literacy center or work station.
There are also extension activities included. These include a sequencing mat to sequence the events of the story, an open ended activity where students create their own "that's not the hat," descriptions, and a words to pictures matching activity that focuses on the adjectives in the book.
The second book, "This Is How We Make a (No Bake) Pumpkin Pie," is an adapted book that focuses on sequencing skills and life skills. Students can follow the directions to make a no-bake pumpkin pie in the classroom and also practice sequencing the steps of how to do it. This book also includes a visual recipe card to add to your visual recipes collection.
I think you're students are going to have so much fun with these! ;)
