Thanksgiving Algebra Dots and Boxes fun game. Great practice while having fun.
This surprisingly engaging Thanksgiving Algebra activity is great for the days before Thanksgiving break. Middle School and High School Students, as sophisticated as they believe they are, still love playing dots and boxes. This is the game where they take turns drawing lines to close or capture a box. In this Algebra version, each box has an equation in it. When they capture the box, they must find the solution. They record the values on their recording sheet and when all the boxes are captured, they add their points to see who wins. Lots of strategies built in, as some values are negative.
Great practice and lots of fun! Answer key included.
