Got mixed speech and language therapy groups? Use Thanksgiving Analogies and Comprehension to address multiple objectives, including articulation, all while learning how Thanksgiving began.
Inside you’ll find 36 Thanksgiving analogy task cards, an answer key, HOT cards for higher order thinking, a short essay of the first Thanksgiving, comprehension questions, an answer key, extension questions about Thanksgiving, and a Venn diagram.
Each analogy provides opportunities for ‘r’, ‘s’, and ‘l’ articulation practice, so you can address multiple objectives for your mixed therapy groups. The first 18 analogies can be used independent of the essay. The next 18 are related to the essay.
How Do You Use This?
Thanksgiving Analogies and Comprehension can be printed or projected onto a white board.
Students can complete analogies in groups or individually.
Practice for ‘r’, ‘s’, and ‘l’ phonemes is possible for each task card. The SLP should instruct articulation students to use target words in analogies according to their individual objectives.
Comprehension questions will address listening and expressive skills while the extension questions require more critical thinking.
