This is a collection of 6 fun and engaging Thanksgiving and November themed CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) math word problems that are great for upper first graders, all second graders, all third graders, and some fourth graders. You could also take the written problem structures and just change the numbers to meet the needs of your students.
The problem types include some division or fair share problems, measurement problems, multiplication problems, join result unkown (adding) problems, several multi-step problems, and seperate result unknown (subtraction). They allow for a variety of solution strategies which will result in a rich discussion as students justify their answers and communicate their strategies; which meets the needs of the Common Core. There are images that coordinate with each problem which helps students who might need a vocabulary visual, and it also makes the problems more engaging and inviting.
The problems are already formatted for Avery US Labels # 5163 or any 2" x 4" easy peel self adhesive labels. You can also print them on paper and have students glue them in a problem solving or math notebook.
