I love changing my centers but only when it is easy to do so! Below you will find five centers. You could also do these activities as a whole group. The first center is list writing. Students will make a list of things they are thankful for. Save the list for later and have your students write a letter or a story of what they are thankful for. There are four different paper options: two boy, two girl. The next activity will get your taste buds salivating! Students will plan in the Thanksgiving Dinner web with all their favorite Thanksgiving Day foods. This can be creative and silly or traditional. Use the following page for your kiddos to write about the best Thanksgiving dinner ever! I love the idea of a coloring contest! Use the Terrific Turkey to bring out the artist in each of your students. The next activity asks your students to write about their family traditions. Students who are not writing yet can illustrate a picture instead.
A Feather in Your Cap Activity
Make many copies of the feather page below. Have students color the feathers and write something nice about their classmates. Have the students pass out the feathers and then make a hat out of a sentence strip for each child in your class. Glue the feathers on the hat. Your students will feel so thankful to be in such a positive classroom!
