This activity is a great way to have a little fun while practicing paragraph editing during the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
This packet includes four separate editing worksheets designed to look like the front page of a newspaper. They are in chronological order, but you can start with page 1, 2, or 3, depending upon how many days you want utilize the activity leading up to Thanksgiving. The students can’t wait to see what will happened next!
Optional SURPRISE Ending!
The last activity (Pie Bandit Caught) mentions that the recovered pumpkin pies were donated to local elementary schools. After we corrected the editing activity, I told the students that our school was one of the schools chosen to receive the donated pumpkin pies. I brought out a large pumpkin pie, and they were amazed when I told then we were going to eat it! I gave each child a small sliver of pumpkin pie, topped with whipped cream! They kiddos were SO surprised and SO excited! I highly recommend finishing the activity this way!
Also, the applesauce recipe is a true recipe. If you are really ambitious, you could make the applesauce with your class! Enjoy!
