My 5th graders love using the super engaging student-created lockbooks instead of the same boring question and answer sheet.
This resource includes an article on Thanksgiving traditions, directions on how to construct a lock-book, and a printable template lock-book for you to use with your students that includes text-dependent questions based on the article.
It can be used as a whole-group activity, Literature Center activity, or even homework.
This activity aligns with ELA standards for the following strategies: main idea, cause and effect, inferring, compare and contrast, text structure, supporting textual evidence.
It also aligns with Social Studies standards for early American history.
