Students solve fraction-related situations with Turkeys, Pumpkin Pies and Fraction Grids. They color and pattern turkey feathers in common fractions from 1/6th to 1/2. The first 2 turkeys are fully instructed with the last being a choice-based exercise. The worksheet title and turkey graphics are outline art that can be colored to student taste. The Pumpkin Pie word problems include a circle graphic which students slice up into common fractions as described in a story situation. The final activity challenges students to brainstorm and categorize "Thankfuls" from their life and create fraction grids to represent those. They finish by creating and answering fraction addition problems. This is the perfect activity for the day or two before Thanksgiving where a medium structure allows for both fun and learning. The activity meets Common Core Standard Number and Operations - Fractions MACC.5.NF.2.3. Thank you for looking!! Have a happy Thanksgiving!
