Are you looking for a Thanksgiving word game? Then give this FREE Thanksgiving Bingo-style word game a try! My students absolutely love it!
Included you will find 3 versions of Thanksgiving Bingo: a cut & paste version with calling cards; a cut & paste version which includes a free space and calling cards; and a game sheet which requires the children to write the words on the game sheet prior to playing. There is also a set of flashcards included that can be used for all three versions of this game.
Each game sheet lists 30 Thanksgiving related words and a blank bingo-style grid with 25 boxes ( or 24 boxes if you are using the “free space” version). The students either cut & paste or write the words randomly in the grid and discard the remaining words.
The teacher or the “caller” shuffles the 30 flashcards or calling cards and calls a word out, giving students ample time to locate and cover the word on their grid with a Bingo chip, penny, or counting cube. The first player to get 5 in a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) wins! (I allow the winner to pick a prize from the prize box and be the “caller” for the next game. They love that!)
If you want to save paper, you may laminate the game sheets and use dry erase markers on them. I put the laminated game sheets and flashcards at a learning center after we play as a whole group. My students enjoy playing in small groups with their classmates…and I enjoy watching them have fun while they are learning their words!
So grab some Bingo chips and have fun!
