Gratitude Journals are a great way to get your kiddos ready for Thanksgiving! I introduce the vocabulary word
“grateful/gratitude” and we talk about what it means. We have a discussion and make a chart of things we are grateful for.
Then, for morning work starting a few weeks before Thanksgiving, students complete one page for their gratitude journal.
The first few pages are things like “family, friends, my home, food, clothing, etc.” After completing those pages, students can continue making as many pages with their own ideas of what they are grateful for.
The day before Thanksgiving break, students glue their cover onto a sheet of black construction paper. Then I laminate the front and back cover and bind each student’s book to send home. They share it with their families over Thanksgiving dinner for homework over the break!
