Welcome to Art Bursts! A simple way to incorporate art history into the classroom.
This lesson is an Art Burst - Museum edition. Students will observe, discuss, and create. An Art Burst - Museum lesson focuses on a famous work of art and provides
discussion questions to help students become critical thinkers and to gain confidence in expression of ideas.
Basic art supplies and easy instructions make these successful in any classroom.
This lesson includes a power point presentation with the following:
-An overview of the highlighted artist
-An art word of the day
-A digital image of the painting
-Thought provoking discussion questions with possible answers in the presenter's notes.
-Guidelines for a simple art project
Art materials needed:
crayons or colored pencils
The activity can be completed in 40 minutes. Art Bursts can be used as an interdisciplinary tool by using the children's art as a writing prompt.
Art Bursts adhere to the National Visual Arts Standards set forth by the NAEA.
Art Bursts - Museum lessons can also be supported as an International Baccalaureate lesson.Through discussion of the artwork, students are encouraged to think critically and challenge assumptions.
