Perfect Thanksgiving writing activity for students to reflect on how lucky they are and what they are thankful for. Tie in with gratitude lesson.
Parents will LOVE this keepsake!!
There are eight black line feathers for students to write on. I've included 3 levels of feathers:
1. Blank feathers for older students to write complete sentences.
2. Feathers with line for younger students to write one or two words on each feather.
3. Feathers with the sentence starter...I'm thankful for __________ because _____________. This really makes kids think about things and not just list random items!
Copy black line turkey body for students to color, cut out, and assemble. Then students think of 8 things they are thankful for and write these on the eight feathers. Students color, cut out, and glue feathers behind the turkey body.
Students use the graphic organizer to plan their writing. Instruct students to think of things they are thankful for.
Students should use crayons or colored pencils to color feathers and turkey body. When students use markers to color, then cut out, the paper tends to curl up.
I’ve included various formats of the turkey body and feathers. Use the form that suits your style and needs.
