The ONLY Thanksgiving resource you will ever need- a fresh way for history to come alive! Students explore the history of Thanksgiving as they rotate in small groups through independent, interactive, hands-on learning stations.
Each self-directed station has a different topic and includes a short informational text (differentiated texts included) accompanied by a visual picture card. Students take notes at each station, then become part of the "living story" as they complete a group task card related to the topic.
Station #1- The Mayflower: Narrated tableaus
Station #2- The First Winter: Pilgrim charades
Station #3- Samoset & Squanto: Reader's Theater
Station #4- Thanksgiving Feast: Venn Diagram food sort
(Optional) Station #5- Corn Husk Figures: Construct a "corn" husk doll
(Optional) Station #5- Pilgrim Games
After visiting the stations, students can construct a written response to summarize what they have learned. Two writing options are included- tab book or 1 page summary and optional craftivity.
These activities can be complete in one day or spread out over a few days.
Your students will LOVE to engage in these lessons and activities while learning more about the history of Thanksgiving.
