This is a fun pack of activities to supplement your language arts teaching around the Thanksgiving holiday. It includes activities and printables that emphasize creative writing, compare and contrast, parts of speech, phonemic awareness, and alphabetical order.
Page 3: Thanksgiving Then & Now Page. Students compare & contrast what the Pilgrims were thankful for in the past with what they are thankful for today.
Page 4: Thanksgiving Madlib Story. Students come up with silly nouns and verbs to fill in the blanks, creating a humorous retelling of the original Thanksgiving story.
Page 5: “A Thanksgiving Tale” Story Template. Students cut out and color pictures of their choice to go along with a story that they write about Thanksgiving.
Pages 6 & 7: Thanksgiving Word Search. Students search for common Thanksgiving words. (Page 7 is the answer key.)
Page 8: Sounds of Thanksgiving. Students must listen for the missing sounds in Thanksgiving words to discover what letter goes in the empty circles.
Page 9: ABC Order Turkeys. Students cut out the turkeys and glue them back onto the page in correct ABC order.
Page 10: Thanksgiving Words. Students see how many words they can find using the letters in the words “Happy Thanksgiving.” This can be a solo or partner activity.
