I try to do this activity every year with my class. I give each student a number which is the answer to a math problem. The students then have to create number sentences that would total up to the number they were given. I have fourth graders and I make them have 2-3 two step problems. They then put the answer on the body of the turkey and the problems on the feathers. I have included a feather cut-out, some number cards and the directions.
This activity can be adapted to primary grades all the way up to upper elementary.
This can be used to see how well the students follow directions also.
