Product Description
**Ready to go! No prep required! Turkey Math for Upper Levels** Are your students antsy before Thanksgiving break? Then this is the perfect activity to fill up to 2 days and still have them talking about math!! In the article A definitive ranking of Thanksgiving sides, Alex Abad-Santos, discusses various attributes of common Thanksgiving sides. He presents a variety of graphs (bar graph, circle graph, line graphs, and scatterplot) to demonstrate the comparisons. In this activity, students are asked to read the article and answer graph analysis questions. Most questions center around the theme of “what does the graph tell you about ____, and explain how you know.” Examples of questions: What food(s) graph has a constant slope? What does that constant slope represent? How are these lines mathematically different and how does that relate to the meaning of the line? What food(s) taste changes the most drastically? How do you know? Choose one other food item and describe its graph as it relates to the taste. Give possible reasoning for the taste changing the way the graph shows.

You can make this activity last as short as you need or it could last up to about 90 minutes. This product provides 14 analysis questions, an answer key, and 2 extension activities. One extension is a family/home connection (with a multicultural aspect) and the other is an extension to be completed in the classroom.
