Math Problem Solving Skills includes a set of problems that students have to answer regarding their "Friendsgiving Feast" students have to plan out their feast, and model how they would set up their Friendsgiving table, make sure they have enough utensils, plates, cups and chairs for all of their guests. Then they have to create a model to show their work using manipulatives and lastly wrap up their plan with a performance task: come up with a schedule that they can use to have their Friendsgiving Feast.
This project can be set up in Rotations during Math Workshop, students can rotate amongst each task to complete their Friendsgiving Plan, and if your having a real feast they can use their plan in action to show real life application!
For the Reading Portion: This product includes an informational passage and reflection questions that they can read during reading block. They can partner up and read about the First Thanksgiving celebration,and reflect about their Thanksgiving or holiday celebration in a whole group setting.
For the Writing Portion: This product includes a Then and Now comparison graphic organizer, an informational comparison blue print, and writing paper to publish their piece.
