Differentiated counting & 1-1 correspondence centers for the preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classroom! This resource is perfect for all developmental and cognitive levels of early childhood. The centers are fun, engaging, and offer challenges and reinforcement of basic skills.
This resource is set up with 3 levels of developmentally appropriate one-to-one Correspondence and Counting centers for the early childhood classroom. Every class is different, every student is different, so this resource gives you the option of starting out slowly, building on what your students know, and offering a challenge as skills are mastered.
Level 1: Pumpkin Count using manipulatives
This beginning level will teach your students that each number represents a quantity. Students will see and say the number at the top of each card/mat, count pumpkins on each mat/card, then add a manipulative on top of each pumpkin. This activity reinforces the idea that numbers mean a quantity, and how to achieve that quantity with objects.
Level 2: Feed the Pilgrims
This activity builds on the first with students practice reading numbers, counting dots on dice, and counting the ‘food’ as we ‘feed’ it to the Pilgrims. In this activity we will practice matching quantities and reinforce that numbers mean a quantity.
Level 3: Make a Set 1-10!
This activity builds on the first two. In this activity students see a number on the mat and then make a ‘set’ of turkeys, pies, or pilgrims that represent the number on the mat. In this activity emphasize that a set is a group of ‘like” objects.
Find the Center activity that works best for your students.
