This powerpoint addresses the myths associated with the history of Thanksgiving. It is perfect for a high school history class, but can really be used in any class. Teachers should have students meet in groups. Each group should create a sign that says, "Myth" and one that says "Fact." After each statement is read by the teacher associated with Thanksgiving, students should talk to their groups and hold up the sign that best reflects the group's decision on whether the statement is a myth of fact. The teacher will then go over the next slide, which teaches them the truth behind each statement. It is interactive and students are engaged. It is a great activity to do the day before or the week of Thanksgiving! Many of these statements were based on the book, "Lies My Teacher Told Me."
