Help your turkey! His tail feathers are getting too bushy. Your students will need to give him a trim so he can look his best for Thanksgiving. Each feather represents a part of speech. There are two words on each feather that should not be there. Please cut off the words that do not belong, color his feathers and him, and then glue the feathers on. Make sure that each feather is a different color because there is an activity with the writing prompt that depends on this step!
After the students have helped their turkey, they will choose between three given writing prompts (one is informational/ memoir, the other two are persuasion). Once the writing prompt is complete on the given prompt paper, the learners will have to go back and locate at least one example of each of the eight parts of speech. They will circle their chosen words in the color that corresponds with the correct feather. An example is given in the download. There are also two line sizes of paper you can choose from, narrow and wide.
