This is a great tool to use during Reader's Workshop. You could complete this with students in a small group guided reading group, have students complete independently or with partners, have students complete over Thanksgiving break, etc.
These look super cute when printed and mounted to construction paper ( I like brown, orange, yellow for fall)!!
Students must complete the following:
-Draw a picture
-Describe the main character
-Identify the main idea/theme
(They complete all of these inside the plate, spoon, fork, etc.) I tell my students to write sideways, wrap their text around, do what they have to do! They love that they get to be creative in how to fit their into the images.
I love to use the week of Thanksgiving with a Thanksgiving theme. It's a great way to continue our normal schedule (Reader's Workshop) while letting the kids get a little fun and giving me something to display outside my classroom!
I included 3 pages exactly the same with different titles so you can choose which you like best. Just in case you would like to use these throughout the year, I have included a page that doesn't have "Happy Thanksgiving" on it!
