This Thanksgiving play is brand new and written for elementary age students. It displays a sense of humor while being full of factual information. It is age appropriate and loads of fun. This play is easily adaptable for the number of students you have. There are two versions included in order to make it easily tailored to your number of students. One version lists generic parts like (Indian, Pilgrim, etc.) where the other one specifies a part number.
The version with character assigned parts are as follows:
Pilgrims- (15 general parts), additional 1 part for multiple boy pilgrims at the same time, additional 1 part for multiple girl pilgrims at the same time, additional 1 part for the “whole class” or “prisoners”, *Note, Pilgrim #2 needs to be a boy.
Indians- (9 general parts)
This took about 15 minutes for the kids to perform but the academic conversations about it took about 45 minutes. We discussed fiction, non-fiction, students had to pull out facts from the text (common core), discuss parts of a play, discussed writing with humor, and we practiced how to read/act with expression.
UPDATE- I've also now updated this file to include 16 related graphic organizers that align with Common Core and a writing prompt.
Also included are words to a precious song and pictures of a pilgrim easy to make for boys and girls.
