This Thanksgiving Reading Center resource contains three invaluable sections to help students learn and understand the story of Thanksgiving. Imagine a class of students cross-legged on the carpet, the teacher seated in that special chair she uses only for reading, then a hush falls as they ready themselves to listen to the story of Thanksgiving...

PART 1: Thanksgiving Story Big Book

The illustrated teacher readaloud can be collated, stapled and placed in the class library as a 'big book' or the pages can be used as a reference poster set displayed on a bulletin board.

An ink-saving copy is also included should you wish students to contribute by coloring, then place in the class library.

PART 2: Student Reader or Lapbook

The student reader is a simpler version of the teacher readaloud. The reader can be ‘gifted’ to students as their own copy, read in small groups or used to teach Thanksgiving vocabulary. An ink-saving copy is included for students to complete.

PART 3: Scrambled Sentences

Place the student reader together with the scrambled sentences in a literacy center. There are 12 sentences in total. Each word should be cut out, laminated and placed in a baggie. The word cards for each sentence are illustrated with the same picture. This helps both with student ordering and teacher organization. Add the recording sheets for students to write out the sentences in the correct word order.

Please note: for each sentence I have left the period with the last word, so students have a little guidance (first and last words) with each sentence.
