Two pages of simile activities with a Thanksgiving
theme to practice identifying, explaining, and writing similes.
The first page, So Much to Be Thankful For, presents Thanksgiving similes and asks students to identify the two things being compared and to tell how they are alike.
The second page, I Am Thankful For, starts with a brainstorming activity in which students list things that they are thankful for. To encourage more creative responses, eight categories are provided along with an example or two in each category. This is followed up with a section in which students choose a few of the items that they listed and write a simile describing each one.
