Keep your students engaged in Spanish and celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time. These lesson materials are designed to maintain class engagement during a challenging time when students are preparing for their holiday break.
In this bundle you get:
1 A Spanish-language reading selection that describes the first Thanksgiving with questions for discussion or comprehension assessment,
2 An answer key for the reading selection,
3 My notes to the teacher that help you teach reading comprehension strategies and lead a class discussion of the reading selection,
4 A Spanish-language fill-in-the-blank reading selection with word bank for differentiation,
5 A list of additional online resources in Spanish and English for the teacher,
6 A copy of my Ubd-based lesson plan with standards,
7 Three word searches to reinforce sight recognition of vocabulary words, for use as bell ringers, reward for those who finish early, or brain breaks,
8 A Thanksgiving Menu project and rubric for students who have already had a unit on Foods.
9 A word puzzle activity where students use the letters from a list of American Indian tribes to form Thanksgiving-related Spanish vocabulary words.
10 I have also created a Bilingual word search that offers Thanksgiving-related vocabulary in English and Spanish in the same puzzle. This puzzle was specifically designed to hold students' attention during the days leading up to Thanksgiving break. It can be used as a reward for students and as a competitive, team-building activity in bilingual classrooms.
As an added bonus I am including an collage of two original photographs taken at the historic Ferry Plantation House in Virginia. The photo can be displayed in the classroom as a poster or simply used as a conversation starter for the lesson.
