This activity offers six story problems: one coin problem, one mixture problem, one work problem, and three combined distance problems for teacher/student holiday pleasure. Illustrations that could also be used as bulletin-board ideas are provided for each and every story problem and a complete answer explanation is provided for each problem, as well. The problems could be used in Algebra I or in Algebra II for warm up exercises spaced out during the week prior to Thanksgiving. They could be presented as a group activity, independent work possibly for extra credit, or they could be used as a partner activity just prior to Thanksgiving break. The content is usually presented in algebra I, although a "refresher" in the early part of algebra II certainly can be beneficial to students. I hope your students enjoy this diversion from the routine of daily math class as much as my students do
Happy thanksgiving to all of you who work in the delightful profession of teaching!
