In this open-ended perimeter math task, students will design a map for a thanksgiving table. Included is a list of items that must be found on the table (plates, napkins, serving platters, etc.) as well as the requirements for what each of these items must look like. For example, the main course platter must have a larger perimeter than the side-dish platters, but cannot be square.
The students will create a color coded key and use grid paper (not included) to create their maps. Once their maps are drawn, they will complete a recording sheet where they will show an equation and the perimeter for each item listed. They can also decorate their completed table designs.
