This project integrates Social Studies and Science to create a themed lesson on the Engineer Design Process. Students will work together by being assigned either the role of a "Pilgrim" or of a "Wampanoag". Pilgrims and Wampanoag Native Americans both have a problem to solve, which is set up by reading a short story (read aloud by teacher.) Once the students have made their way through the Engineer Design Process by following along in their journal, they will pair up with their Wampanoag/Pilgrim partner and put their items together to create a boat! This project models how to think like an engineer, while creating an environment of collaboration and growth mindset!
