Celebrate one of our favorite holiday traditions with this fun practice activity: food! Your students will put their knowledge of coordinate systems, coordinate graphing, and ordered pairs to work creating a mystery picture with a seasonal theme for Thanksgiving. Students plot points from a list of ordered pairs and then connect the dots to form a turkey (the roasted kind). Two versions of the activity are included for different grade levels or for differentiation: a primary version with fewer points, and letters along the X-axis, and a more advanced version with a smaller graph and numbers only.
The coordinate planes on both versions of the graph include positive numbers only. The full version includes 11 pages: cover, tips for teaching coordinate graphing, beginner and advanced coordinate lists, beginner and advanced blank graph pages, and answer keys showing both the simple design plotted on the grid as well as a decorated version.
