This Thanksgiving unit has Lesson Plans and Activities that put a new twist on your Thanksgiving Reading and Writing Plans.
The unit centers around Reading inference activities and persuasive writing activities. Students can complete lessons and activities from 3 popular Thanksgiving stories: A Turkey for Thanksgiving, Run Turkey Run and ‘Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving.
After reading and completing activities, writing lessons include creating a Turkey Survival Catalog with items that a turkey could purchase to survive Thanksgiving. Students create a catalog title and jingle as well as 5 items a turkey could use to evade a farmer. Suggestions for presentations are also included as well as grading rubrics.
