This activity includes 27 WH questions about Thanksgiving. It is set up so that each question can be cut out and made into a mini book for the child. If you are working with a group that can read you can put each cut out question in a pile and have the children go around in a circle, where each child picks a card, reads it, and then everyone answers. Once they are done if you want to send the questions home with the child you can staple them together with the cover page on top.
There are also 25 WH questions to ask about a picture scene. These questions only need to be printed for the teacher to ask the students. The questions either require the student to know the difference between WH questions, understand linguistic concepts, or respond using a spatial concept. For certain questions you may want to tell the student to include certain words in their answer such as above, below, left, right, or between. For example the questions ‘where are the Indians’ can include responses such as to the right of the wheat, to the left of the turkey, or in between the wheat and turkey. Several questions such as this one can have multiple answers so if you are working with a group you can ask another student to provide a different answer.
Both of these activities include who, what, where, when, why, and how questions. With these activities you can work on having students produce complete sentences. If you are working on writing skills you can also have the students write the answer to each WH question.
