Thanksgiving

Count the Room

Counting

Math Center

Searching for a fun new way for your students to practice counting objects 1-10 this Thanksgiving?

Want a center that is little to no prep but has your little 'turkeys' up and about?

This turkey themed 'count the room' activity will engage your independent learners and they will have no idea they are practicing counting and writing numbers 0-10!

They are sure gobble up this center with excitement!

The center can also be used as a 'stationary' center rather than count the room. Place cards in baskets and/or buckets rather than taping them around the room!

You can use it in a Thanksgiving sensory bin too! Simply fill your bin/bucket with artificial leaves, corn, oats, beans, etc. Add these cards and have students pull and record the number of that colored turkey on their recording sheet!

Use it for early finishers basket too!

This Pack Includes:

15 counting cards with November themed images + recoding sheet + answer document

15 counting cards with ten frames + recording sheet + answer document

Supports and Aligns with Common Core Learning Standards for Counting and Cardinality.

Directions/Suggestions For Use:

Print and laminate cards. Tape cards around the room for a ‘count the room’ activity or they can be placed in a basket/bucket on a table for a stationary center activity.

Students look at the picture(s), count the number of objects on the card and write down the number on the recording sheet.

Other Ideas:

Use for centers, center extension activities and/or early finisher basket:

*Place a set of these cards in a basket/bag. Students can put them in order from least to most turkeys (or most to least).

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
