This is a fun writing activity that I have done with my second grade kiddos the past couple of years. The kids have such a good time with this...that I thought it was time to share it.
I use the book "The Other Dog" by Madeleine L'Engle to introduce my students to writing in first person. This is a wonderful story told from the dog's perspective. The dog is very upset about its owners bringing in another "dog" into the family. However, in the end, the reader finds out that the "other dog" is actually a baby.
I then use this book to aid students in starting to think from a turkey's point of view. The students are then able to use the graphic organizer to start writing.
This kit includes:
* a lesson plan (This activity can take place in a day...or be spread out over several.)
* graphic organizers (4 different options for different learners)
* sample written graphic organizer
* decorative thematic writing paper...7 different pattern choices...in wide-ruled...and thin-ruled
I hope you find this activity to be fun and engaging in your classroom.
