This resource includes three different writing activities to use in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving! They require no prep, just printing and would work great for use during reading/writing class or for early finishers, literacy centers, homework, or just when you have a few minutes here or there to have a little Thanksgiving fun!

All pages have been designed to give you printing flexibility (color or ink-saving black & white).

There are three, different, lined pages designed to accommodate the writing needs of students in grades 2-6.

Editable rubrics are included for all pieces.

The resource includes the following activities:

1. Thanksgiving Menu & How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Menu Item (How-To Writing)- Students are given a choice of 5 different Thanksgiving day scenarios. They select one and design a menu for Thanksgiving dinner. They choose one item from the menu to write an expository piece explaining how to prepare their Thanksgiving menu item.

2. Invitation to Thanksgiving Dinner (Persuasive Writing)- Students are asked to send an invitation inviting friends and/or family to sample the Thanksgiving dinner item they prepared. They have to persuade their guests to attend the party.

3. First Thanksgiving Time Travel (Descriptive Writing)- Students pretend they have traveled back in time and are standing in the middle of a Pilgrim village. They are asked to write all about the sounds, sights, tastes, and smells they experience there.

4. BONUS Bookmarks Included: I designed four Thanksgiving/fall season bookmarks just because I love reading and want students to enjoy it too.

All of these writing activities would make a great bulletin board or hallway display.
