These no-prep Thanksgiving writing pages will familiarize students with the different types of text structure/writing genres in a way that is both memorable and fun. A decorative cut-out border is provided, so all students need to do is write, color, and cut! These will make a great bulletin board display, especially if the cutouts are put on top of colored paper. I have also included full color versions of each, just in case you want to print them in color and/or display a full color version on your SMARTboard. This set includes practice with the following writing genres:
“What I Would Cook for Thanksgiving”
“Thanksgiving: Then & Now”
“The Perfect Thanksgiving Afternoon”
“How to Make a Pumpkin Pie”
“Never Give Up”
Each writing prompt includes some brief tips about using the given writing technique to help students write an effective paragraph or essay. (Students can staple an additional sheet behind if you would like them to write a full essay). The topics are fun and light-hearted so that students will be able to effortlessly remember each type of writing genre the next time they are faced with them on a standardized test question!
