Oh no! James the Turkey
was thrown out of the sky when he lost visibility in a blizzard! Luckily, he landed in the Carnivora Family’s yard and they have taken him in. But with food getting low and the blizzard keeping everyone cooped up, it’s looking like James may be tonight’s dinner.
Using multiple reading and writing activities
, students read all about James’ dilemma and then choose how James’ story ends! Then they wrap it all up by creating a Turkey Glyph that incorporates their stories and some multiplication practice!
Students can even e-mail James the Turkey
with a working e-mail address (that responds to them)!
This mini unit is perfect for upper elementary students
during the day or two before Thanksgiving! It will keep your learners engaged
while providing them with something fun and different!
