Product Description
Need a new Thanksgiving activity that is easy to differentiate and accomplishes SEVERAL genres of writing?

Like my activities for Christmas and Halloween, this highly flexible, choice-oriented project gives students 40 prompts across 8 high-interest topics: Black Friday, the first Thanksgiving, the Parade, Gratitude, FOOD, Starting Christmas?, Traditions, and free choice.

Use the provided brainstorming page, rubric, and story starters to make this project easy to implement and assess; adjust the scope of the project to the length of time you need it to occupy. (I am suggesting up to 2 weeks, but it would be simple to lengthen or narrow the focus.)

This 5-page download includes:
Prompts: 2 pages of 40 prompts in 5 genres across 8 topics
Rubric: a Common Core-aligned rubric by genre (including grammar!)
Brainstorming: page of at-a-glance planning across genres
Story Starters: 28 story starters to help with the creative writing component (divided by topic)

Wait! This product is INCLUDED in my Writing Prompts for Teens Bundle: a YEAR of Choice Menus!

CCSS Standards assessed include: W.1, W.2, W.3, W.7, L.2, L.4
