This is such a fun way to squeeze in some extra reading those last few days before Thanksgiving break. An awesome way to motivate even your most reluctant readers at the CVC level. Perfect for centers, guided reading, small group or intervention! What I love about it is you can use this game whole group. Put the word cards in a pocket chart at the front of the room and have students take turns reading a word! If they read it correctly they get to see if the scarecrow is behind the card they read. Give it at try with teams of 2-4!
How to Use this Game!
This game has CVC pattern words.
How to play:
Print the cards. Cut them out. You could laminate or print on card stock for durability. Lay the cards flat on a table hiding one of the scarecrows behind one of the cards. Do not let students see you hide it. Students will take turns reading the cards one by one. After they read a card correctly they can lift the card and see if they found the scarecrow. Whoever finds the scarecrow first is the winner! Could be played whole group also using a pocket chart. Students will love practicing CVC words with this game!
